Have We Reached A Turning Point?

Of course I am talkin' about the weather.
It was still very cold this morning, but there is something about the powerful rays being sent out by the sun.  Different.

It even had an impact on my fruit basket in the kitchen.

The snow in the back yard is still higher than the dog's backs.

Here's a foodie alert for my vegetarian friends....
This is one of my inventions and I think you would like it.
Basically, it is a cauliflower casserole.
In a pot, I put one entire cauliflower (flowerettes) 2 onions, 1 stalk of celery and lots of carrots.
When it is tender, remove from pot and reserve stock.
Make a white sauce using some of the stock and finish with a little milk.
Add grated extra sharp cheddar cheese.
 Blend.
Pour over veggies.  Add salt and pepper to taste and place in oven at 350 until bubbling (35 or 40 minutes).  I covered it with tin foil.
In the meantime, boil 2 or three eggs and put them on top of the casserole for the last 5 minutes.
 Delish.

I also attempted to make whole wheat bread in the bread machine.  Turned out pretty well.
 Gucci was assisting.

The sun had me so motivated I changed around all the furniture in the kitchen.

Chores at 5:30.  Pretty crispy out there.

Did not need to turn on the lights in the barn.

 Dinner?
A green salad, cauliflower casserole and homemade bread with pepper jelly.
Phoebe and Gucci split some scrambled eggs.
Night all.

  1. Don't tell my dog Maggie that your dogs split some scrambled eggs or she will be hitchhiking up to your place!

It was still cold here today and we're supposed to get snow Sunday night but then the temps are supposed to turn much warmer. 30-40 will feel like a heat wave.

  3. I made a mashed cauliflower thing tonight. Turned out well, but very unattractive brownish color! I roasted the cauli first and also roasted garlic and then combined it all in the food processor with chicken stock. The reviews were mixed. I think had it been white it would have been better! But the flavor of the caramelized cauli was great. I was inspired by a recipe Jen posted on her blog Use Real Butter, which is on my blog list. If my blog list is working! It's so messed up. Hope you guys get a break! Although you probably won't...we were supposed to get rain Sunday but it looks like it'll be snow instead.
