911

My day got off with a big bang....
We were still into mugdom this morning.

After chores I picked some veggies from the garden and went in the house to make leek soup for dinner.  Sally and Judy were coming over.
Just before 9 I heard the screeching of tires as a gigantic semi came to a stop at the end of the driveway.  I also heard a loud thud, grabbed the phone and went out to our front yard where I saw this.  On the way I dialed 911.  This is the 3rd accident on our property in the past 6 months.  The road is perfectly straight with very wide shoulders and conditions were fine, but the driver was distracted.  Not the first accident of this kind.
I could not get ahold of Gary as he was at yoga.  What a mess!  First our mailbox was totaled, then the rocks on both sides of the driveway were thrown all over the place....the car hit the telephone pole and flipped over.  Only one person, and she was pulled out of the back seat by people who saw the whole thing.  The sheriff, first responders, fire department, ambulance, rescue truck and more were on the scene within minutes.  Fortunately the driver was ok and refused to go to the hospital.  In the meantime, we had our third accident to clean up.  This will take awhile.

Lorie (Moon's Mom) helped us pick up all the trash, glass etc. and when that was done we showered and drove in to Rochester where we met Jenny, Finn and Coop for my birthday lunch.

We sat out on the deck at Pomadoro's.

The food was great and we had a very nice time.  Grampa's treat.

Gary took the boys to their house for the afternoon and I continued working on dinner.
The ponies went in at 5:30....humid and buggy so they loved being in their stalls.

 Everyone arrived around 6:30.
 Judy made a spectacular salad....
I made the soup (requested by Judy).

Sally brought these gorgeous glads for my B'day.
After dinner I let the ponies back out and Gary picked a pail of veggies for Sally.

Then we had dessert.  Sally brought one of those "light" chocolate cream pies from Wegmans.
Time for a nap.
Night all.

A Very Happy Birthday with all so many good wishes for a wonderful year. Flowers, birthday meal with family, forget the 911 emergency, maybe she had a lucky day too. Very fortunate lady. Greetings from Jean

Amazing the driver was OK after that! There are a lot of distracted drivers out there these days . . . very scary.

Happy Birthday to you! Your meals looked scrumptious - as always!
Wow! What excitement - the kind you don't want, I suppose! My Dad's condo is on the 4th floor on a corner. He has seen some frightful accidents - mostly in the wee hours of the morning - so not so much fun to have outside one's window. I'm glad the driver was OK.
Have a happy day after...

What a nasty birthday surprise. I'm glad the rest of your day was so nice though. Happy Birthday from France!

Happy Birthday! That girl was lucky to walk away. People do seem to crash in your front yard on a regular basis. They must be distracted by your beautiful barn and gardens.

Happy Birthday Lori!! Looks like it was a wonderful day, except for having to clean up the debris from that accident. That gal should be thankful she wasn't hurt, or worse. Sure seems to be a lot of distracted drivers on the roads nowadays.
Once again our weather patterns are similar. We are very sultry and sticky, bugs are having a field day with the horses. Ack! I sure am looking forward to the "dying of the bugs" come fall cooldown.
