ABBE LANE

 Chilly morning, but bright.
Off with the sheets as the temperature was heading toward 60.
After chores I threw down some hay for Gary to stack in the feed room.  Our loft area is huge and has a capacity for up to 1500 bales.  Sure don't need that many anymore.  As it is, I'm going to have quite a few left from last season.
Unfortunately, the sun did not hang out for long.
Dropped Phoebe and Gucci off at the groomers and went over to Agapes.  Just a light workout as I really overdid it this past weekend.
Picked up the girls at two and they were very happy to see me.

So nice to have water back in the canal.
Took it easy for a little while.  Invited Randy and Arlene over for a Swedish dinner.
Since it was raining, I put the horses in early.  Earlier, I tried something new.  Opened Berlin's exterior door and the gate to the back stall so both horses could go in and out whenever....
Want them to get used to going in and out day and night, so when it's hot this summer they don't have to be locked in.  Tonight I put Abbe next to Berlin in the back stall.  Hopefully she will get used to it, and pretty soon they can be wherever they want.

Maybe a heatwave will arrive soon so the pups won't be too cold.

For dinner, we had korv (homemade Swedish sausage), mashed regular/sweet potatoes, a carrot and apple salad, Arlene brought rolls and applesauce (the pictures were terrible).
 Dessert was homemade rice pudding.
After dinner we played Sequence.  Arlene and I were on a roll.
But no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We ended up losing AGAIN.
Night all.

THE L O N G AND SHORT OF IT...

Yesterday I wanted to devote just one post to Leontien so I am catching up now.
It was another frosty morning.
After chores I mowed the lawn.

At 1:30 I arrived at drumming...several of the drummers and Khalid had to drum at the evening performance of Sankofa and we did not get out of there until 4:30.
I don't know how they have the energy.
By the time I got home, did not have enough gas to work on the house for tomorrow's party.
Managed to tuck in the girls, and then I crashed.
This morning I woke up at 5:53....no alarm.  Had to do chores early as several of us were drumming for a half marathon in Rochester and we had to be there by 7:45.
 It was gorgeous...but cold.

Gary helped me and then drove us into the city.

Last year we did this and there were 1200 runners.  Don't know how many there were today.
We were placed at the top of a long hill at the 6+ mile and our goal was to motivate the runners
so they could make it.
All ages.  All shapes and sizes.  Interesting outfits.
This guy stopped....counted the number of drummers (11) and did a push up for each of us.  Fun!
We really enjoy doing this, as a great deal of appreciation is shown for our efforts.

When it was all over, we jammed for about 10 minutes.

Home around 10 and had to make up for lost time in the prep department.  40+  people coming up after the last Sankofa performance (matinee).

A little before noon Clyde Jr. dropped his 3 kids off while he and his brother Djuna went over to the college to catch the last show.
They kept busy and I worked on the house in between activities.

Things were starting to shape up and of course I had to take some pictures.

 They could all be models!

Around 4:30, the cast members and friends started to arrive.
Lots of fresh fruit and other goodies.

We also had rice and beans along with the grilled veggies and other snacks.

That swing is very popular with people of all ages.

The dancers were so appreciative....such a pleasure to be able to spend some time with them.

The contingency from New York left directly from the farm so they could be back in time for work tomorrow morning.  I'm tired just thinking about it.

Lias really worked her butt off preparing all kinds of food and Gary deserves thanks for grilling veggie shish ke bobs, hots and hamburgers.  We all had a great time.  I love this group.

When they all left, I gave the girls a whistle and tucked them in.

As for the Las Vegas crew....

Jenny, Finn and Coop had a reasonable plane ride.
and the cousins were happy to be together.

They are loving the wave pool at Mandalay Bay.
 I'm ready for a nap!
Night all.
