A HUNKER DOWN KINDA DAY....

It rained all night....
This morning was pretty cold, but no frost...that's for sure.  It was still raining when I went out to the barn.
Abbe, my dirty little POA was clearly interested in getting into the feed room....
for some of that lushioussss 2nd cutting grass.
I heard a kitty, and there was Sidney (who I had not seen for 4 or 5 days).

Put the hay in nets under the shed roof so the girls wouldn't get wet.

 Yuck.
Don't you love the pond (outdoor arena) out back.  When it rains around here, we really get dumped on.  Our lawn, however, has no puddles anywhere.
I spent most of the day in the kitchen.
 Made applesauce....cranberry orange relish....
 Sidney kept me company.

It's all about that cozy feeling you get when there's a fire going.
Then, I proceeded to make chicken noodle soup....
Peeled and cut up the squash for tomorrow.
Went out to do evening chores....

And came in for dinner.  Nothin' special....chicken and coleslaw.  Tons of onions and carrots.

What are you having for dinner tomorrow?
We are going to have a couple of appetizers...and for dinner (I'll have pictures tomorrow)...
Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, squash, roasted brussels sprouts, waldorf salad, regular cranberry sauce, cranberry orange relish and for dessert, pumpkin and raspberry pies.  That ought to put us into a serious nap mode.
Night all.
May you have a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow.  We have a restaurant in town (Jimmy Z's) that puts on a dinner tomorrow (free) for anyone who walks in the door.  That's what it's all about.  Between that and all the food shelf deliveries...I hope everyone in our community has a warm meal.

PS - Jill, I hope you got to Maryland in good shape and are just about ready for tomorrow's dinner with your boys.  Sophie and Lily are in the basement (Sid and Seymour were there too).  Better weather is on the way.

Looks like a good day to be indoors . . .

We're having free range turkey - raised by a farmer only a couple of hundred yards from us, sweet potatoes glazed with maple syrup, red cabbage with apples and wine, home made cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potatoes and a vegetable dish and dessert brought by our guests.

May you and yours have a happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you! I'm not sure I'll get a "food" post up -- I'll be cooking with my sister in my mom's kitchen tomorrow. Don't tell them but... your menu sounds better than ours. Can I come to your house for dinner?
