GLORIUS.....

We had a morning like this while millions of people are without power after a snow storm.  Amazing.

For the second day in a row I woke up late!  What the heck.  The pups and I got out to the barn and did the usual.   Frost again.

Phoebe and Gucci have worn coats the last few days...

Jen was down in the village and called to see if we wanted to meet her at Java.
We headed out a little after 9:30.

After having some poached eggs for breakfast (along with lots of chatter) we went across the street to the market.  Last day for this season.
I was very surprised to see strawberries!
Lucy was there with her owners.  A couple of years ago she was rescued by the Dog Warden and had many puppies.  With the help of volunteers, they were taken care of until they were old enough to be weaned.   After they were all adopted, Chris and Jack took "mom."  A real sweetheart.
 Typical fall items today.

It's sad to see this service come to a close.  Not only for the fruit and veggies available....but also for all the socializing that takes place.
On the way back to the car, Gary stopped in the Lift Bridge Book Store to get the Sunday (Buffalo) paper.  I checked out the Creech section to see what was available.  Another place I want to show her if she she comes up for a visit.

 Perfect weather.
Took the sheets off the ponies so they could bath in the sun (and mud).

Gary gave his car a good cleaning before he trades it in tomorrow.
Jill gave me the biggest butternut squash in captivity the other day and I finally decided to turn it into soup.
After I filled a large pot, I put the rest in the freezer.
Googled Squash/apple soup...looked at a ton of recipes and did my own thing.
Sauteed leeks, onions, carrots and celery while the squash and apples cooked in four cups of chicken stock.  Combined it all in the food processor, then added some sour cream, brown sugar and a little tiny bit of curry.  (Sea Salt and fresh ground pepper too).
Great body and lots of flavor.  Will dilute it more when I heat it up tomorrow night.  Jenny stopped for an order to go.

According to the sunshine, it was chore time.
 First I picked the pastures.

 Then I fed the girls.
 Loved the night sky.

Sophie and Lily got some attention on my way back to the house.
 Meowwwwwww.
Dinner?  A salad full of every veggie except for lettuce.
 Leftover sauce on noodles...

And that's all she wrote.
Night all.

Still a fine, clear autumn here- well, some rain o' nights but that's the right time for it, and the gardens were all very dry.

Love that bookstore (you tell 'em, ok?) and am appointing you an Official SC representative. Look at that blue sky and that moon sky (i was looking at it, too) and that yum food and those silky cats and dogs and horses. Wow!

Boy, that sure does sound like a fabulous fall day! Great pictures. I felt like I was there, too.

Now you've done it! Made me darn hungry! Beautiful sky shots. I called my son yesterday (now in New York) to see how he liked the snow. Mean Mom!

Another lovely day. I'm surprised at the strawberries, too. And they look like they'll be great.

Well, I was wondering if you had snow, and you had a beautiful day. We're supposed to get 5-10" tomorrow night.
