AFTER ALL THIS, THE DUCK RACE WAS CANCELLED DUE TO LIGHTNING...

On my way out to the barn this morning, I was first greeted by Lily.  She, Newbie and Sophie stay out of the limelight most of the time.
 Went through the drill....
I think I discovered what was wrong with the right hind (lameness) of Masterpiece.  There was a three inch spot at the top of his hoof that was looking crusty...like an abscess when it blows out at the top.  He was moving so much better.

Back in the house by 9:30.  Check out all the veggies we have been gathering from the garden.
Got cleaned up and went down to the Arts Festival....
where I was introduced to these three people.  15 years ago when Jenny was working for a US Congressman, she helped to get the father into this country.  Now they live in Canada and teach at a University.  Very appreciative with nothing but kind words about what she did for them.
Kathy B., my favorite Dog Warden, came over to the tent to buy some ducks.  For sure, she is one of dog's best friends.
There was a fun band playing when Gary and I stopped to listen during lunch.

 What a babe!

Next, I checked out the WineGarden in the Rec Center.  There were 5 wineries at the tasting.
A jazz trio was playing there.
Added a lot to the venue.

This candidate bought a duck or two.
Above is the man who coordinated this whole event. Does he remind you of a certain wrestler who had his own reality show awhile ago?
George D. also happens to be the best designer/builder around...if you're looking for a kitchen that is out of this world.  He also constructed the course for the Duck Derby which got rained out (with lightning).  It will take place tomorrow night at 6.  Over 2300 ducks are going to be racing for
ten BIG prizes.

My friend Judy called and invited us to dinner.  It was raining, so I put the horses in for the night when I did evening chores and we were off for a feast.
This sign hangs in the porch where we ate....one of my favorites.
Randy set us up with drinks....
While Judy finished preparing our dinner....

I took a few shots of her garden.

We started off with some onions prepared with a batter and Indian spices.  To die for.....
I had seltzer with cherry juice....
 Next came a corn soup...
 Followed by eggplant sandwiches....
 and the three salads.
The grand finale was roasted peaches with a scoop of ice cream.
She even had banana cupcakes.  How decadent was that?
I say it every time we eat there.  The best cook (and baker) I know....and everything was vegetarian.
I'm full and tired!
Night all.

Bummer that the race was postponed, but who can argue with the weather? I hope you get a good turn out tomorrow.

Oh, what wonderful foods you get to try. You are one lucky person!

Dinner looks amazing!

Good luck on the rain date for the Derby!

Eco once had an abscess that blew out the top. Makes sense that is what it was. I did not realize Eco had it until it opened up. Hard to know what it is when you can't see it! Sorry your derby was postponed!

Hi, Lori,
I've been away and now am enjoying catching up w/your feasts - for eyes and stomach - love your horse close-ups and the Sunday macros - always love the flowers and animals esp. Love that you took us along to the art festival and showed us some of the wares.
