IN BETWEEN THE RAINDROPS....

Barb went to work today after having almost two weeks of vacation.  They were supposed to start on her barn 10 or 12 days ago and didn't.   Hopefully that will happen this coming Monday.  At any rate, I was on my own.  It took me longer than usual as I swept out the upstairs so new hay can be brought in tomorrow morning.
Not quite as hot as yesterday.
Abbe got her mask off, so before I went back in I had to track it down.

For the third day in a row the rain was on again off again.

It looked like this by 9:15.

Cleaned up the house, went to the bank and store, then started getting things ready for dinner.
I marinated the boneless pork chops before I made my debut in the chutney making department.
Looked up some recipes, but made up my own.  First I cut up some dried apricots, added yellow raisins and some craisins.  Altogether, it was a little over 3 cups.
Then I added a diced onion, cider vinegar, light brown sugar, 2 TBSP. of honey....
salt, pepper, mustard seed and cumin.  Started off with a medium heat and then let it simmer for about 20 minutes, constantly stirring.
Ta daaaa...it looked beautiful and was so simple.
 Got everything ready...

 Finished cleaning the house....

 and the sun came out!
Gary and I mowed the lawn in about an hour and a half.

Can't ignore all those new blossoms....

Tonight's salad....spinach (of course), fresh strawberries, onion, pecans and homemade
poppyseed dressing.
Somehow Phoebe and Gucci recognized Tina's car when she and Roger drove in.  They went nuts and were ready to perform for a treat.

Lucky for them, she brought each a very special tidbit.

We started off with a beautiful fruit plate and deviled eggs (made by Tina) along with cheese and crackers....wine and whatever....out on the porch.  Where was my camera????
As soon as the pork was finished, we were ready to eat.  We had bread with a chesse/garlic/herb spread that I melted under the broiler.
 Gary did a terrific job with the pork.  3 minutes/turn 3 minutes/turn 3 minutes/turn 3 minutes/done.  Advise from the chef at Wegmans.
Topped it with my apricot chutney and added the cheesy potatoes made by Brenda.

Ann brought a frozen strawberry dessert....it had cracked pepper in it!
A delicious meal and I couldn't ask for better company.
Night all.

Hi Lori, your rain video could have been recorded here in the valley! But oh my, your garden is BEAUTIFUL! Makes me miss my large garden which I sold in December. I love your dinner party. So different and yummy looking. First time I hear of craisins. Are these a cross between raisins and currants? Have a lovely weekend. (((Hugs))) Jo
