YOU NEEDED A WINTER JACKET AT THE SANKOFA PARTY

What a weird day.
All kinds of weather.

Off to a sunny but very windy start.

It looks calm, but believe me....it was blowing like crazy.
Barb helped with chores...it was the beginning of a very long day.
Gar and I spent a couple hours getting the barn ready for the party.
 Not too fancy.
I can't believe we had to have a day in the 30s.
When I was going back in the house, the ponies were in the paddock.
Whenever I called them from the back porch, they looked at me.

By 4:30 the Morgan family and the dancers started to arrive.

I brought my 3 drums out to the barn and many people took turns playing them.

 Such fun.

Lots of good sound for three drums.  I ended up bringing out my cowbell, Irish drum, tambourine, and a few other things.  An ensemble was in the making.
Gary grilled up some hots and hamburgers...
and Ms. Morgan brought lots of other food.
snacks, salads, beans....  (The dancers also contributed goodies).
She also brought a huge bowl of shells to share with everyone.
Bad enough that it went from sunny to cloudy and back...but when it snowed!!!!  Not so nice.
Had to keep warm by moving.
The drumming got started when Clyde (number 2) and his children started playing.

Their Mom got into it too!

Lee Morgan ( a photographer in New York) was taking pictures of the kids.
One family wanted a tour of the barn.
Their adorable daughter had no fear....
 and loved touching the horses.
By 7:30 people started leaving and helped us move out all the chairs and tables.  Gary and I finished up by 8.  Of course the sunset was beautiful after everyone was gone.

Then, after everything was put away and I mopped the kitchen floor...the moon came out in full force.

Right now, I feel like a truck ran over me.  So tired.
Night all.

You have posted some really beautiful photos. I particularly love the one of the horses framed by the pines. Gorgeous!

It looked like so much fun... but darn that weather! Brrr....
I love entertaining, but I don't love the 'after' feeling. It's kinda like a hangover... you sometimes wonder if it's worth the 'fun'!!!

That sounds a glorious day, Lori. And what a beautiful full moon we had. We drove home from Norwich by it.

Sorry the weather took a turn for the worse. A couple propane heaters would have come in handy! Hope everyone had a good time.
