JUST AN ORDINARY DAY.....

Today's pace was a slow one. We started out with pink skies.

By the time I got out to the barn they changed to a deep gold.

Then, you would think that someone threw a grey blanket over us...and it stayed that way all day.

A chilly start, but we ended up around 30 degrees...and that's a heat wave compared to what we have had.

The ponies spent most of the day in the pasture...not too much wind for a change.

At 1:30 my class arrived. They are all working on some pretty neat projects.
Below is Mel's first try with watercolor pencils. He finished it and it looks great!

Surprise, surprise! Sandy is working on another horse. Generally, my students do their initial drawings on tracing paper. That way, they can erase or change things without ruining the surface of their good paper. Once that is done, they transfer it and get started painting/drawing etc.

As you can see, they are able to work and talk at the same time.

Tina has started a mixed media piece....pointilism and watercolor....(woodpeckers).

Colm started on a portrait of Abe Lincoln without his beard. We are all in awe of the way he produces such high quality work in a short period of time.

Deb took a break from her book today and worked on a couple of other projects and Alice is working on drawings of flowers, which will be painted next week.

Mel was off and running, drawing a plant.

They all left a little after 3.

Gary had another meeting at 4....the pups and I went out to do chores a little before 5.

They are demonstrating their show stances....

I did not have time to pick the pasture...just the paddock....will have to do that tomorrow.

Tucked all the ponies in, fed the dogs and headed down to Brockport to meet Gary at the home of the Andrews. The three of them are going to a concert tonight...St. Olaf's Choir from Minnesota.

We were invited for supper before they left.

Their kitchen is full of artifacts and has a beautiful wooden ceiling. The table was set in a very warm and inviting way.

We had a simple supper....Eggs, peppers, onions, potatoes and sausage made with chicken...a side of toast....

and a bowl of fresh oranges and green grapes.

Perfect!

Phoebe, Gucci and I are relaxing at home...needed a nice quiet break. Night all.

You warm up and we get cold. It was -2 at my house today and down to -20 in town although I never left the house. Glad you got some quiet down time. The dogs look great. The diet must be working.

Oh wow, Lori, an "ordinary day"? Your students are so talented and I loved this post - all so homely and warm. Bless you. (((Hugs)))Jo

I enjoy how you post pictures of your students' work - it's fascinating and inspiring too! We had a little bit of snow yesterday (which was good since it improved the footing) but today it's supposed to be sunny and above 30 degrees - spring is coming!
