OK, THIS COLD IS GETTING A LITTLE TOO SERIOUS....

This was one of those mornings when the sun was trying very hard to break through the greyness and snowflakes.

It took awhile!

The temperature was in the high teens.

Both Phoebe...

and Gucci ventured out to the barn with me. Didn't last very long.

Gary got home around 10:15 (yoga day and a walk afterward) and we both finished shoveling the driveway. I had been out since 7:30 and this is as close as I get to an aerobic workout. Doing stalls is painless and shoveling (if it's not wet, heavy snow) is good for me. Some people think we are nuts, since it is such a big driveway.

On Saturday, a new horse will be coming to the farm from Christina's World. Her name is Dream and she is a chestnut thoroughbred in her 20s. She has been alone since Sunshine was put down and is in need of some company (until Tina finds herself another horse in the spring...if all goes as planned). Anyway, today I went down to Tractor Supply to pick up some shaving and set up her stall area. Barb, her owner, lives around the corner from me and will take advantage of the indoor during Dream's stay here. Hopefully, it will work out for all of us.

When I finished, I went over to Wegmans to pick up the usual milk, bread, oj etc.. They have a flower area and I snuck a shot of this plant. Visions of spring.....

Fortunately the sun came out...it was around 12:30.

The pups went out back for short periods of time to chase the chipmunks (who torture them as they watch out the kitchen window).

Masterpiece dozed in the sun for hours.

I don't understand how they think there is really some grass under there.

The good news....they are not just standing in one place.

Late afternoon....and the sun was blasting through the living room windows.

Phoebe was in her usual spot...she listened to my piano playing...."Moonlight Sonata" (a simple version).

For the past several days Gary has been painting Christmas cards. Tomorrow I have to kick in and do the same. He considers himself to be an "outsider artist" and creates these primitive cards...future collectors items, right?

Once again he had a 5 o'clock meeting in the village and I went out to do chores.

The temperature dropped down to 6 degrees. The dogs were out for about 5 minutes.

Barb stopped in to check out the stall set up for Dream...I finished up and got in the house around 5:40.

My Poinsettia is still lookin' very good.

And Frank, that fire is still burning up here!

A friend made us these placemats. I love to use them at this time of year.

What about dinner?

A salad....crusty bread....

Our homemade pasta sauce (I added more onions and mushrooms)....

Still in that comfort food groove.

After dinner I wanted to watch a Netflix movie...put it in the DVD player and it wouldn't work!
Damaged. There sure isn't anything on TV. I should really finish reading "Soul of a Dog" by Jon Katz. Tina loaned it to me months ago. Do you know about Jon and Bedlam Farm...one of my links? I have had a very interesting time communicating with him over the past two years. His books have all been outstanding and following him regularly has taken me on quite a ride. If you have never been to his Journal, check it out.

That's it for now. Night all.

That sounds like hard work shovelling a long driveway but I bet it warms you up. I think your gorgeous puppies have the right idea. The cards are cool.

Wow! Every single one of your days is an adventure! Sheba says she can fully relate to the pups not wanting to be out in that cold... :-)

I can't believe you're shoveling that whole driveway! Good workout. Your pictures are great and it's so exciting that you're getting a new horse till the spring. I'm glad her owner lives around the corner, I'm sure things will work out fine.
It's freezing here too.
