ANOTHER HOT ONE....

The sky was a little erriieee this morning, but it became bright blue and stayed that way for the rest of the day....temperature went up to about 84.

It just seems easier to feed the horses a flake of hay under the shed roof...shady. Had a grain delivery around 8.

This is Winnie. She and the other horses stay in this run in when it gets hot. I leave the fan on and they are content to stand there and pee their brains out. Tomorrow I have to pick up some lime.

It's the coolest place to be.

At 10:30 I had my class and did not take any photos...all just starting on projects.

After lunch I drove down to Apple Creek Farm to mow the lawn.

When I got there, Kitty was waiting for some attention. One of her owners is in China doing some video work on a documentary and is missed.

The gardens are still bursting with beautiful flowers....

and the apples in the orchard have gotten much bigger. We had a fair amount of rain this month and everything has grown.

This is what I see coming out of the driveway.

Did chores at 5. Gary went to watch Finn's first flag football practice.

Two pastures were open....that means I have extra picking to do tomorrow morning.

Phoebe and Gucci were performing. Here, they are getting into there wrestling mode.

Tonight my friend Judy and I went to see the movie "Julie and Julia." I loved it (there was a lot of blogging in it). It is such a pleasure to watch something that is entertaining with no bad language and violence.

That's all folks.

Like Mississippi, where I lived my first 36 years, there's a lushness about New York that I don't see out West, even here in the Willamette Valley, which is an area known for its greenery. I rather miss that. I don't miss the heat and humidity though. I very much enjoyed your photos.

Oh, how I would love to have your 80 degree weather again! It's been in the 50's all day and seems very chilly. Shorts are packed away for another year (unless an Indian Summer is still in store). The horses are just lovely. I'll take a few photos of some at the fair tomorrow if I get a chance.

Oh, no. Your sweet dogs are Girl Wrestlers? Now that's a twist on Porter's long-distance romance. (He's wondering if he has to run some extra miles to get in better shape.)

How big is the black horse with the big hairy hoofs. Are those horses of a certain height and weight?

Enjoyed your horse, flower, and dog photos today, Lori. Our temps are steadily falling in the mountains of CO. I'm not ready for the end of summer!

Hi Lori,
I've been having trouble leaving you comments - will try again...
I enjoy tracing your day on the farm through your photos of the horses, dogs, and flowers. You have a lovely blog.
