IT'S RAINING! IT'S POURING!!!!!

Gary helped me with chores this morning and I was done very quickly.  When I turned the horses out it was not raining, but very overcast.

No need for masks today....I hang them on the gate to the stalls when they are not wearing them.  Some with ears....some without....

As expected, the rains came.  When it was spitting, they stayed in the pasture, but when it started to pour they all ran in.
That's the good thing about having a shed roof.  I put the hay there so they don't have to get soaked.
We are supposed to get hay tomorrow, so I went upstairs and got everything cleaned up and swept.  This is the door the hay will come through.  They will bring an elevator and a "nephew" who I will pay to stack.
This is the area above two very large stalls, and is where the hay will go.  It holds 500 bales. We put this floor in about 17 years ago when we built the indoor.  Before then, those two stalls were not as cozy.
There is still a lot of space left for the second cutting when it arrives later in the season.
Randy filled the feed room with hay yesterday, so I only have a dozen bales left upstairs. Generally he throws down a weeks worth on Sundays....yesterday he was here to check on Joe so he did it early.

This old ladder is attached to the wall and leads you to a third level that would hold another thousand bales.  It has not been used for over 25 years when we allowed someone to store straw up there.

This is a better view of where the hay will be stacked.  The barn is well over a hundred years old and to me, the interior is beautiful.
I took several photos of Joe this morning, especially for Mike over in England.  This horse is his favorite.
I'd love to know if there are any Belgians out there who are older than this 32 year old.
By the way Mike, he is not nearly as gimpy today.
I love his eyelashes!
And he loves his Pony.

I love visiting your "ponies". I should send you my collection of fly masks. T-Bone takes them off of everyone and I've just given up. They are hanging up similar to yours, but very dusty. Sigh.
