A VERY LONG BUT GREAT DAY....

Another morning with a beautiful sky.  Very cold last night but the temperature went up to 30 degrees.

The sun made the shadows look very purple.

Berlin's diet is sure giving her a beautiful coat....must be the beet pulp.

It's been a long time since I posted my last self portrait.....I'm baaaacckkk.

While I was out doing chores, Fred and Phoebe were all snuggy in the house.

Larry has one of those techie things that holds 200 books.  I had never seen one before and was quite impressed.

Jennifer brought over Mickey and Buddy this morning.  Lizzie and Larry were quite amazed by their sizes.

We went to the Apple Tree for lunch...it has become a tradition when they come to visit.  You would love this place...it's an old brick house that has been turned into a restaurant.  We were seated next to the fireplace and Christmas Tree.  Fabulous menu.  Lizzie is a vegetarian and they had a great option for her...Gary even ordered it.  A calzone stuffed with feta cheese, red peppers, tomato and artichokes served with a side of marinara sauce.  The plate was garnished with sliced apples and a small cup of cranberry orange applesauce.  I had chicken salad on carrot bread, and Larry had ham and cheese on marbled rye with a side of red cabbage and apple salad.  We started things off with a cup of superb pumpkin soup.  What a great way to spend part of the afternoon.

We have a store in the village called "Bittersweet."  Lizzie loves to go there to buy something different.  The clothes are very unusual...a lot of flax....and the rest of the place is loaded with unique items.

She ended up buying two beautiful cashmere and silk scarves.

All of the above items are made from recycled tin.

Baubles....

....and more baubles....
and things that I just wanted to photograph....

WORDS that describe the season....and things that are not in season....

When they finally got him in the car, they were ready for the drive back home.

Five minutes after they left, Jenny and the boys came up for a little outdoor activity and dinner.
By then, the sun was bright and it really did hit 30.

Ice loves to run around at the farm....

Finn is trying to master kicking a football....

AND THEN, THERE ARE THE LAS VEGAS BABES!!!!
These shots were taken when Ariana and Daniela went to see "The Beauty and the Beast" with their friends.

Are you asleep yet?  This was really a long one....

Berlin's coat is so shiny. Just beautiful. Larry looks quite comfortable on the coach. I could use that couch! The pony is such a cutie! Kids just love playing in the snow, don't they? Sounds like quite the full day!

You had such a busy day, I don't know what to comment on first.
I love the horses how adorable are they all. We feed beet pulp too. Slurp, they love it. The day in town sounds nice, I'd love to try that restaurant and do some shopping at that store.
The kids look like they had a great time too.
Stay warm and enjoy the beautiful skies.

Oh Lori, Never worry about "too long" posts. Glimpses into your life at Skoog Farm are delicious and entertaining. I consistently admire your engergy to create and document the beauty in your life. Any yeah, ain't beet pulp great? Lyra is starting to gain weight - thanks to beet pulp.
