WINNIE IS A WINNER

In the past, I have posted pictures of Winnie and her new owners as they have visited the farm several times to use the indoor.  This past weekend she (once again) outdid herself at the SUNY Brockport campus.  The Clarkson Horseman's Association was taking part in the Camp Good Days and Special Times "Ability Camp" and riding was of great interest.  Many of the kids were lifted on her back as she stood next to a large platform (some from wheelchairs, some who were blind) and proceeded to take them for rides, led by a family member.  This mare, tho she is not a spring chicken, can do it all. She can jump, do dressage, go for trail rides, give pony rides and is giving this family an experience of a lifetime.  By the way, she is blind in one eye.
Yeah Winnie!!!

Winnie is a great lady and we are blessed to share this stage of her life with her. Lori & the Skoog Farm were integral in making that happen and being generous with encouragement and advice to help us take this big step and face a steep learning curve. We are probably a textbook case of a someone that gets into horses without enough knowledge or experience. What we have yet to learn we try to make up for with committment, dedication and as a family, not "the daughter's toy". Winnie is truely another member of our family, she acts like she knows she is and even the extended family is accepting her as such. She might not have done well on the track but she can still live up to her name "Rate to Win" because she has a way of "Winning Hearts".

We appreciate everyone like Lori that have done things for the benefit of horses that have given people like us a shot at the joy of having a horse and we are enjoying being able to share that enthusiasm with others.
